Las Vegas is a pulsating gambling city in the US state of Nevada. Located in the middle of the Mojave Desert, the casino metropolis attracts visitors with an overabundance of attractions and shows. With our travel tips, your Las Vegas vacation will be unforgettable!
If you are strategic, you will be able to save a lot of money in Las Vegas. You can get Las Vegas bargains at every corner from trusted people like hotel employees, waiters, or croupiers.
But first, the most important rules for your Las Vegas vacation:
Think carefully if and how you want to go to places off the Las Vegas Strip. You can choose between different bus lines, the monorail, rideshares like Uber, cabs, or even long walks in the burning heat (although it can get freezing in Vegas too).
New additions are the popular E-Scooters. However, these are subject to unpractical restrictions in Las Vegas: you must return a scooter to the same place where you picked it up. If you decide to drive in Las Vegas, you will need a lot of patience in the heavy traffic.
Should you decide to leave the safe tourist crowd and walk or drive into the neighborhoods of Las Vegas, do your tours during the daytime only and stay away from dark, alley-like places.
Apps such as Google Maps, Bing Maps, Waze, or Here are most suitable for planning your Vegas tour.
The legendary Las Vegas Strip is a 6,8 km-long stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard. Most of the attractions, which draw over 40 million tourists annually, are located on the Strip.
Thanks to the countless neon signs, the Las Vegas Strip is the brightest place on earth. By the way, the Strip is not even situated in the city of Las Vegas but belongs to the neighboring town Paradise.
An outstanding experience on the Las Vegas Strip is a visit to the lavishly designed hotels and resorts, which either recreate famous places and buildings from all over the world or offer gigantic adventures. Some of the most exciting hotels are, for example:
You don’t need a car here. The famous entertainment mile is very easy to walk since the most spectacular casinos, luxury hotels, shows, rides, and experiences are located close together.

The Hotel New York is one of the most spectacular casino hotels in Las Vegas because it is a detailed replica of the New York City skyline, including the Statue of Liberty.
If you are already impressed by the outside view, you will be all the more amazed when you enter the hotel complex: The theme "New York" has been incorporated down to the smallest detail.
This place is a city within the city. Here, you will find cobblestone shopping arcades, street corners with neon signs, bars, restaurants, typical New York Brownstone buildings with fire stairs, and even Broadway, Wall Street, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Treat yourself to a roller coaster ride on the "Big Apple Coaster", which runs right through the hotel complex!
Prices and opening hours may be subject to spontaneous changes on the part of the operators.
The pompous Hotel Bellagio is located at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip and is a lovingly designed replica of Lake Como's Italian landscape. In addition to a spectacular water and light show ("Bellagio Fountains") on the lake in front of the hotel, visitors are also drawn here by the world's largest chocolate fountain.
The appetizing chocolate waterfall is composed of three different types of chocolate, which flow from a height of four meters through 25 glass shells. Delicious! In addition, a wonderfully fresh floral scent fills the entire hotel complex, as it is green and blooming all year round on countless artful islands of flowers.
The luxurious building is a real eye-catcher both from the inside and the outside. Among the top experiences at the Bellagio are:
Ask for a room with a view of the fountain when booking!

The Paris Las Vegas, with its 165 m high Eiffel Tower replica, is one of the most impressive hotels in Las Vegas. A special highlight for hotel guests and visitors is the Parisian district with its stores, bars, and cafés, which has been recreated with great love and attention to detail.
The central lobby bar, with its countless, sparkling chandeliers is breathtaking. Drinks are a bit more expensive here, but the additional investment does not hurt in this dreamlike atmosphere.
On your way through the lobby roundabout, you will also pass by an exceptional open-air casino. The effect is deceptively real, but unfortunately, the sky is painted. In the middle of the casino, a large cabaret stage with live shows is waiting for you too.
If you visit the Hotel Paris in Las Vegas, don't miss the following highlights:
We recommend the rooms with a view of the Eiffel Tower only from Monday to Thursday. Over the weekend, you won't be able to sleep well because of the disco noises.

The LINQ is an amusement mile on the Las Vegas Strip located right next to the same-named hotel. It became famous for the world's highest Ferris wheel, the "High Roller", which rises a sensational 168 meters at the end of the complex.
The LINQ Promenade is full of restaurants, stores, casinos, cafes, and bars and also offers direct access to the legendary Flamingo Hotel. A special highlight is the "FLY LINQ Zipline". You will glide from a platform above the rooftops towards the High Roller Observation Wheel in a Superman flight.
Also, be sure to check out these things:
Visit the tropical Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, located in the garden of Hotel Flamingo.

The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas surprises you from afar with its steel-blue waterway, on which true-to-original Venetian gondolas ride alongside Las Vegas Boulevard.
The majestic architecture of this hotel justifies the comparably high price. The columns, statues, marble facades, stucco ceilings, and painted walls, as well as the beautiful view of the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, are worth every cent.
Brilliant: The "Grand Canal" with its gondoliers continues inside the hotel complex. It even flows within the detailed Venetian shopping arcade with its cafés, restaurants, and live shows. A deceptively real (but artificial) sky spans the entire Venetian promenade.
If you visit the Hotel Venetian, don't miss the following highlights:
Stock up on instant coffee and enough toiletries, as the room amenities don't include a coffee maker and only the most basic bathroom essentials.

The Stratosphere Tower on Las Vegas Boulevard is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. 350 m above the Las Vegas Strip, you can experience an incredible lot in this spectacular building.
In addition to the breathtaking 360-degree view from the top of the SkyPod, you can expect extreme rides with the extra height kick, exquisite restaurants and bars, and a fairytale wedding chapel for your crazy SkyPod wedding above the clouds.
The "Thrill Rides" include the "Big Shot," which shoots you almost 50 meters into the sky, "Insanity", the octopus gone mad, and "X-Scream", a mixture of a roller coaster and a seesaw.
Do a Skyjump! Safely roped up, you can jump from a height of 253 meters from the SkyPod platform and "enjoy" the panorama of the desert city in free fall.
Prices and opening hours may be subject to spontaneous changes on the part of the operators.
"Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada", says a huge white sign four miles from the desert city. The legendary logo is located on the central stripe of Las Vegas Boulevard at the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip. It has been announcing the city border at Paradise Airport since the 1950s.
Characteristic of the neon style of the casino capital, the Las Vegas town sign glows at night thanks to light bulbs and fluorescent tubes. That is why it is one of the most popular photo motives in the city at all times, day and night.
Although the back of the sign says "Drive Carefully," you have to be very cautious when crossing the four-lane road on your way to the sign: drivers in Las Vegas tend to be in a speed rush.
When you arrive at the sign, you're up against some competition: tourists are queuing up to take the much-desired photo with the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" lettering in the background.
Two bus lines stop directly in front of the sign. You've already run your feet flat between hotels and attractions, so why walk the long distance to the Las Vegas sign?
Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas is one of the most historical places in the gambling metropolis. You will find the oldest and most famous casinos and hotels here, such as the Golden Gate, Fitzgerald's, or the Golden Nugget Casino.
If you come to the city following the footsteps of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Dean Martin, you will automatically find yourself here in the "old" and "real" Las Vegas. Music and art are still at the very top of the list.
The entertainment mile has changed dramatically since the 1990s: with the "Fremont Street Experience", street artists, daily free live concerts, and a gigantic oversupply of food, shopping, entertainment, and - of course - gambling were added. The incredible light and video show above the street will leave you speechless.
By the way: the infamous "Heart Attack Grill" is located right at the main entrance to the Fremont Street Experience. If you believe you can handle the "Quadruple Bypass Burger," don’t hesitate to join the queue.
In contrast to the Las Vegas Strip, it gets quieter around Fremont Street at late hours. You will then be less protected by the tourist crowd. If you want to commute between the Strip and Fremont Street after dark, take the bus, rideshare, or a cab.

The Neon Museum (also called the Neon Boneyard) is the final resting place for the legendary neon signs of Las Vegas. The non-profit organization was established in 1996 because many locals found it hard to watch how modern models slowly replaced the artistically designed neon lights.
The most beautiful neon signs of the world, such as the Hard Rock Cafe's guitar, the "Silver Slipper," or the "Hacienda Horse and Rider," would have simply disappeared from our sight if it weren't for the team of the Neon Museum. They collect, prepare, and exhibit the iconic Las Vegas signs.
What is displayed at the Neon Museum dates back to the 1930s, when the luminous art had already shaped the desert city's townscape. Check out the Neon Museum both by day and by night if you can. These are two great but very different experiences.
The exceptional "Brilliant!" show, which uses light projection and music to bring the oldest neon signs back to life, has already brought many visitors to tears.
Prices and opening hours may be subject to spontaneous changes on the part of the operators.
